Palm Springs is the Most LGBTQ-Friendly City in the United States

Palm Springs is the most LGBTQ-friendly city in the United States and has many other attractive features to appreciate. In less than two hours, you can drive from Los Angeles into the Sonoran Desert to this desert mecca. Palm Springs has long been a popular getaway thanks to its weather, hot springs, and the backdrop of the Coachella Valley. Hollywood celebrities have flanked to this desert destination since the ’30s to escape fame’s limelight, many buying homes in the area.

While the nearly year-round sunny skies is one of the biggest draws, many communities in the area continue sprawling eastward as more people come to know the many attractive features of Palm Springs. In fact, many hotels and other attractions would close during the summer months, but this is no longer the “off-season”. Every season in Palm Springs is permanently “on”.

Much of the year’s weather is sunny with little to no precipitation. Temps are milder beginning in October and lasting through May. The nights are cooler this time of year also. Summertime temps are often 100 degrees F and higher with low humidity. Peak season begins in December and lasts throughout April

This welcoming desert community is home to one of the nation’s largest concentrations of same-sex households, has an entirely LGBTQ city council, and the first transgender mayor in California. Many of the city’s resorts and attractions cater to same-sex couples and in November every year the Pride Festival offers a parade and many other events.

The downtown area is constantly changing and reinventing itself with brand new chic shops, boutique hotels, and fine dining. Even the neighborhoods evolve, like the Uptown Design district now taking over the north end of the city. The Stagecoach Festival, Coachella Music Festival, and International Film Festival have put Palm Springs on the proverbial map for visitors who might not have had Palm Springs or the Coachella Valley on their bucket list of destinations.

The welcoming desert community of Palm Springs is the most LGBTQ-friendly city in the United States with spectacular weather, attractive features, and plenty of attractions.
